He spent most of his childhood attending church. But then came the teenage years. Along with the majority of his friends, he wanted nothing to do with church. And as soon as he was old enough, he decided he would rather be with them than with God’s people.
After completing his A-levels he spent several months travelling around Europe before moving to study Geology at Kingston University. At the end of his first year at university his brother was diagnosed with a brain tumour. Wonderfully he has since made a full recovery, but the shock of his diagnosis and the subsequent battle with cancer had a profound effect upon Tom.
Realising that his own life could be demanded from him at any moment, he decided to return to church. He joined the only Christian at university that he knew and attended Cornerstone Kingston. That friend, Laura, has since become Tom’s wife! Under the regular preaching of the gospel at Cornerstone, Tom was converted.
Upon graduation Tom joined the Co-Mission Apprenticeship Scheme. He trained for two years under Pete Woodcock at Cornerstone and then joined the staff team. As part of the Antioch Plan, he’s leading a church plant into Teddington.
